In preparation for the National Day of Commemoration for 1916, Jack Quinlan, Dean Devereaux and Vicky Griffin, along with Betty and June went to Croke Park where they were presented with the Irish Flag in a ceremony attended by all schools across the country. On the 15th of March, our centre participated in the National Day of Commemoration for 1916. At 12 o’clock we raised the Irish flag. This was followed by a reading of the Proclamation by Corey Doyle, Vicky Griffin, Jack Quinlan, Jaye Gallagher and Jonathan Makumba. Aaron Cuddihy read the history of the Irish flag. This was followed by some music played by Aaron Green which was very well received. The day also included an Irish themed quiz for each group. Afterwards the centre was treated to a traditional Irish dinner of bacon and cabbage which was prepared by the Catering group.
